    Moin suzammen!

Yup, you know me and I know you all well enough that I don't need to translate this year's application into German.

There will be a lot of applicants this year, I think! It doesn't get a lot more local than a WTC in Germany, and I'm eager to represent my (adopted) home country once again!

I was all-in on Dusk as soon as I saw them and I think they're shaping up to be pretty strong. With PP catching up with the release schedule, It should be no problem to get House Kallyss and the Ghosts of Ios Cadre painted and on the table by August.

If I'm selected for a German team, I'm ready to put in the work to increase our team's chances (and become a better player than in 2023.).

    Position: Spieler

Fraktionen: Dusk!, Crucible Guard, Storm Knights

    Trainingswoche: Yep!

    Exciting!

    Love

    Steve

Last year's WTC was overall an excellent experience and I'm eager for the chance to repeat that.

The chance to compete at my favourite game at the highest level gave me a huge opportunity to step up my game. The German national WMH community is an excellent environment to develop as a player and having access to advice from some of the best players was pure gold. The training week was hard work, but was the perfect pre-tournament prep. I'm a better player than I was a year ago because of all that, but the journey is far from over for me.

Clearly, I have room to continue improving as a player, but I believe I can make a tangible contribution to a German team in '23.

Our team last year seemed to get on extremely well, and it was nice to find myself with people I already knew well. After the training week, it would be hard to imagine having a bad time with any of the German players.

As my teammates from last year have already pointed out, the WTC 23 is about as close to my house as it ever will be and coincides with the holidays too, so logistically, things couldn't be better.

As far as Armies are concerned, I'm currently still playing CG and own Cygnar (although I haven't played them in mkiv) and I'm looking very seriously at Dusk. We'll see what I settle on once we know a bit more...

Does moving away from casting give sculptors significantly more freedom when sculpting for a 3d print, or does it just present different restrictions?

How easy is it to update a released sculpt? I heard that thin or brittle parts could be reinforced by increasing their volume with additional details, but is this something that can be changed really easily by just updating an stl for the printers?

I’m massively looking forward to seeing some Dusk sculpts.

Which finished sculpt is your favourite/are you most proud of?

Give us a one-line description of the style of the Dusk jacks. (Assuming they haven’t already been spoiled)

to the surprise of very few, I will be rocking a super-fluffy snowflake uncompetitive pairing:

yah, don't change tourn rules in the middle of a tourn.

Whether or not each game is played in Vassal or Wartable can be decided for each game, can't it? Isn't that what we were doing anyway?

Interesting reading, thanks for the reports!

I think you need to be summoning heavies every single turn without fail. Horrors play a weird trade game in that they can do a lot of work (so much work) for one turn and then die. I reckon you have to cheat the piece trade by feeding in more stuff than the opponent can deal with. Then you get to use your essence for spells and stuff.

Just my impressions from various sources. I could very well be wrong.

Looking at coming up on Sunday for a game if any of you guys are up for another early one ;)

Can you lose the shrieker? Or go for a smaller battle group in general? If you’re going to be summoning at every possible opportunity, you can maybe have more space in the list for other goodies.

Bear in mind I know nothing.

Yep, Deceleration + Feat = sad times for Syv. Even just having Decel up makes all the heavies def 13 which is the tipping point for unbuffed CG shooting.

Purification is a problem for Zaateroth too, but Syvestro will get damaged for his trouble.

I feel like it would be a pretty even match if not favoured for Ms Z.

She can be patient, bringing in a Horror every turn forces the opponent to act before it becomes impossible to deal with.

Maybe I can share some thoughts about my first game into Infernals.

First of all, the models are enormous and very cool.

    We played Syvestro into Omodamos.

My syvestro list is kind of standard at the moment, for those that choose not to run a Vulcan with him:

    Crucible Guard - Syvestro

    Theme: Magnum Opus
    75 / 75 Army

Aurum Adeptus Syvestro - WJ: +28

    - Toro - PC: 13

    Railless Interceptor - PC: 16

Crucible Guard Mechanik - PC: 2
Gorman Di Wulfe, Rogue Alchemist - PC: 4
    Trancer - PC: 0
    Trancer - PC: 0
Hermit of Henge Hold - PC: 5

    Dragon's Breath Rocket - Gunner & 2 Grunts: 0
    Steelhead Halberdiers - Leader & 9 Grunts: 11
    - Doctor Alejandro Mosby - PC: 4

I can’t remember Gramps’ list exactly (I’m sure he can share), but it was lots of heavies and solos and 2x units of cultists.

I certainly can’t recall the game step-by step (I’m old and it was over a week ago) but I’ll try to give the key points of the game and my thoughts about the matchup:

I played my Toro carelessly and lost it early to a Desolator benefitting from an early feat from Omodamos.

I tried to retaliate as hard as possible with my feat turn, aiming to remove as many heavies as possible. This was made rather difficult by dodging lights, countercharging heavies, unexpected Umbral Guardians and some very poor activation optimisation by me. Nevertheless, I believe I was able to claim 2 heavies, 1 or 2 lights and put two of the remaining heavies on only 1 or 2 boxes.

This was all at the cost of leaving my battle engines in very vulnerable positions. Gramps felt that Omodamos needed to take care of the situation personally, so between him and two of the remaining heavies, the BEs were freed of their material forms and replaced with a beautiful pair of matching smoking craters in “partner look”.

Unfortunately for the big guy, he was left out in front of the sad remains of my army on zero camp and was issued with a 3rd class one-way ticket to Void Hauptbahnhof.

It was a pretty fun game and Omodamos is terrifying. We agreed, however, that Syvestro is probably quite favoured in the matchup.

I can see why Omodamos is considered the more straightforward of the Infernal Masters. In an ideal world he wants to upkeep Synergy and poop out a Heavy every turn with the bonus of maybe putting out Locked Horns too. His Feat is a great enabler for his attrition plan. Cultists hang around repairing heavies and handing out essence. If there are souls to claim, Omo can become insane.

Infernal Horrors are really, really dangerous under Synergy and can do so much work with free charges, tons of initial attacks and stacks of essence everywhere. There’s a load of tools available to enable their application.

The big weakness of Horrors in general is their lack of survivability. So few boxes.

Syvestro has a couple of key tools for the matchup; Upkeep removal forcing Omo to spend extra essence and meaning he must activate first to get that spell back up and therefore can’t benefit him from it himself. I believe this also puts him in a position to not be able to summon, and cast Locked Horns and still have a comfortable camp, so he has to play sub-optimally.

The list has a ton of medium-strength sprays which are ideal for putting damage on Horrors. They can often line up multiple targets and have no problem hitting DEF 11. Sprays also get around a lot of the Infernal anti-shooting tech and don’t care much about Locked Horns.

The list also doesn’t have an awful lot of souls to reap, outside of the Halberdiers who are, as usual, annoying to remove, especially as they can be made immune to Corrosion damage.

I believe Syvestro’s list generally outthreats Omodamos’ which forces the Horrors to commit or be chipped down from a distance. The Horrors are not survivable enough to send in individually, and there’s not a lot of screening models available.

If the Horrors *can* be delivered, they absolutely brutalise the poor, innocent Crucible Guard models, the challenge being to get them to their targets undamaged.

Anyway, that’s enough from me. Looking forward to trying Syv into Zaateroth!

Hello! Just thought I’d chip in with this infernal ruling that Mount Weapons are, in fact, melee weapons.

    https://privateerpressforums.c…cus&p=3688068#post3688068

Therefore Maddox's feat applies to Mount attacks.

    Here’s my Maddox list:

    War Room Army

Cygnar - Maddox 1 SD Hurricane

    Theme: Storm Division
    3 / 3 Free Cards 75 / 75 Army

Major Beth Maddox - WJ: +30
    - Squire - PC: 0
    - Hurricane - PC: 39 (Battlegroup Points Used: 30)

    Stormblade Captain - PC: 0
Captain Arlan Strangewayes - PC: 4
Major Katherine Laddermore - PC: 8
    - Major Katherine Laddermore (Continued)

    Storm Lances - Leader & 4 Grunts: 20
    Storm Lances - Leader & 4 Grunts: 20
    Stormblade Infantry - Leader & 5 Grunts: 10
    - Stormblade Infantry Officer & Standard - Officer & Standard: 0
    - Stormblade Infantry Storm Gunner - PC: 2
    - Stormblade Infantry Storm Gunner - PC: 2

    THEME: Storm Division

But honestly, Stryker 2 is probably better in Storm Division.
